⛓️Set up the environment

• ✅Debian 12.6

• ✅build-essential

🛠️Build

Install the necessary packages

Install git and build-essential to build vlmcsd from source code

1sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
2sudo apt install git build-essential -y

Clone and compile the vlmcsd source code

Use git to clone the vlmcsd project from GitHub:

1git clone https://github.com/Wind4/vlmcsd.git

Enter the newly cloned project directory and compile:

1cd vlmcsd
2make

Install vlmcsd and create a systemd service

After compilation, copy the executable file to an appropriate location:

1sudo cp bin/vlmcsd /usr/local/bin/

To automatically start vlmcsd, create a systemd service file.
Create and edit/etc/systemd/system/vlmcsd.service：

1sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/vlmcsd.service

Enter the following content:

Start and enable the vlmcsd service

Enable and start the service:

1sudo systemctl daemon-reload
2sudo systemctl enable vlmcsd
3sudo systemctl start vlmcsd

Check the service status

1sudo systemctl status vlmcsd

Configure the firewall

1sudo ufw allow 1688/tcp comment 'KMS'

With this, the KMS server setup is complete

🔞KMS activation for Windows and Office (for educational reference only)

Windows activation steps

• Press Win+Rto open the Run dialog
• Type cmd and press Enterto open the Command Prompt with administrator privileges. Right-click cmd and select “Run as administrator”
• Remove the installed key slmgr.vbs /upk
• Set the KMS server slmgr -skms ip:1688/domain
• Install the key slmgr -ipk Version-specific key
• Activate the system slmgr -ato

Office activation steps

• Press Win+Rto open the Run dialog
• Type cmd and press Enterto open the Command Prompt with administrator privileges. Right-click cmd and select “Run as administrator”
• Switch to the Office directory (which contains OSPP.VBS) cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15
• Set the KMS server cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:domain
• Activate the Office cscript ospp.vbs /act

📜Activation instructions

• KMS activation has a 180-day period, known as the activation validity interval.
• To maintain activation, your system must connect to the KMS server at least once every 180 days to renew activation.
• By default, the system attempts to renew activation automatically every 7 days.
• After renewing client activation, the activation validity interval resets.
• In summary, as long as you do not exceed 180 days without internet access, the system will renew and maintain activation status automatically
